I have a problem. I have found myself cancelling plans, making excuses, switching responsibilities around, and avoiding doing important things. I have found myself dedicating 3 days a week to American Idol. The thing is, I'm not even telling you the most embarassing part. Fine, since you asked. Two nights a week the show is on for two hours, and one night the show is on for one hour. Which means 5 hours per week are dedicated to American Idol. And it's not like I'm watching it half-assed, doing other things meanwhile. I am sitting there watching the entire program from start to finish. If I liked popcorn, I would be popping barrels of it, throwing kernels at my face as I sit there completely consumed. But I don't like popcorn. The thing is, I have a big dilmena. Next week America's Next Top Model debuts with a two hour premiere. I love America's Next Top Model, proud and loud, dammnit. My sister told me it was starting up again. The conversation went something like this:
L: America's Next Top Model is starting up again next Wednesday. There's a two hour premiere.
Me: WHAT? On Wednesdays? THIS Wednesday?
L: Yeah, and I think it's going to be in the jungle or something cuz on the commerical Tyra said: Welcome to the Jungle!
Me: That's crazy. But what am I going to do? American Idol and ANTM are on at the same time probably. I'll have to order Tivo before next week. I'll HAVE to.
L: Well, maybe they're not on at the same times.
Me: That would mean ANTM would have to be on from 6-8 or 10-12 and somehow I don't think that's possible. So I deduce that both programs are on from 8-10, hence my dilema.
L: I think that's really messed up of Fox. I mean, 5 hours a week??? That's jusr taking it too far. They just can't demand that time from their viewers who have other things to do in their lives (looking at me)...or other shows to watch.
Me: (small shamed voice) Well, soon when they cut down the 24 to 12 the program will only be 3 hours a week.
L: That's still too crazy. Even 2 hours a week in pushing it! But 5!!!
Seriously, guys, any advice on how to get Tivo when you are broker than a joker but NEED to watch two shows with some form of the word "America" in the titles lest you fall into an even deeper American depression? Let me know!
